Big Garden Birdwatch UPDATE - BBC Winterwatch is back
Lat night the BBC Winterwatch Team had a go at counting birds too. It turns out you get to see more birds if you are outside in the garden, rather than in the kitchen, eating cake. Here is the segment about counting garden birds.
Winterwatch, and Springwatch, and Autumnwatch, is a favourite programme here at Ty Newydd Farm. So much so that it's become part of the gardening year calendar. This year the team is up in the Cairngorms in Scotland. Apparently the Cairngorms is the UK's largest national park. It's in the Scottish highlands so there is promise of quite a bit of snow what with the "winter" having just now finally arrived in the UK.
BBC Winterwatch is fronted by Chris Packham. I think of him as the modern day version of Sir David Attenborough. Except that he is like a walking encyclopaedia and so he might actually know more about British wildlife than Sir David? It would be great to see the two of them have a trivia match-off to find out. And I doubt Chris Packam will be knighted anytime soon given his stance against, and the Royal Family's love of, hunting.
Michaela Strachan and Gillian Burke and Iolo Williams (Yolo is Welsh and has done some great segments about wildlife in Wales) are the other hosts. The four of them make a great team. You can catch up with the Winterwatch episodes here on the BBC Iplayer.
The next episode is on tonight at 9pm, you can catch it here live: You can also follow Winterwatch on twitter: https://twitter.com/BBCSpringwatch or on Flickr, where you can add your own winterwatch photos: https://www.flickr.com/groups/bbcspringwatch/
